Epilog was founded in 2015 by Michael and Lance Mojaver with the goal of elevating machine vision systems to super-human capability. Epilog has since developed an 8K AI vision system in  partnership with Jabil, one of the world’s largest manufacturers, to automate building vision systems on a mass scale.

Epilog’s approach to self-driving begins with the recognition that roads and traffic signs are designed for humans, and machines need to see at least as well as humans to operate safely. Epilog’s human quality AI vision can be incorporated into millions of cars on the road today and future vehicles at consumer-level pricing.



Keeping people and vehicles flowing efficiently through public roads, airports, theme parks, malls, parking lots, and other large spaces is especially challenging because of the sheer scale of area coverage needed. Epilog brings scalability, smart coverage, safety, efficiency, and utility to managing large spaces using its advanced AI vision technology.


Our Traction


New products, patents and trademarks, pending orders, and a subsidiary


Epilog has several groundbreaking AI vision products entering the market soon, and is currently accepting pre-orders. The company has filed one trademark application and has been granted one trademark in the past year, been awarded 9 patents and several trademarks to date. Epilog formed a new wholly-owned subsidiary (Aperis LLC) to differentiate the branding for its queue management products. The first Epilog revenues are anticipated through the Aperis subsidiary on the Wellcome product, a health assessment device with a target Average Selling Price (ASP) of $2,000.



Epilog significantly advanced the capabilities of its driver assistance system in 2021 and is in preparation for beta testing and mass production. SideCar is compatible with millions of cars on the road today that support LKAS (lane-keeping assist) and ACC (automatic cruise control). We plan on beginning beta testing in late 2021.

SideCar offers cutting-edge AI and optical capabilities in an integrated device that taps into a car’s existing computer, taking control of gas, steering, and braking. SideCar connects to smart devices, allowing remote security monitoring, climate control, and more.



We believe Wellcome is the world’s first comprehensive, non-contact, non-invasive digital health-check device designed for public places like businesses, schools, and offices. Wellcome can measure body temperature, perspiration, blood oxygenation, height, weight, age, and gender, all collated into an easy-to-understand indicator for health screening.

Epilog has a long list of reservations for SideCar. A reservations list is maintained by Epilog for customers interested in purchasing SideCar.  SideCar is expected to be available in very limited quantities once the product is initially released. Customers on the reservations list will have  the option to (not required to) purchase available units on a first come first serve basis.  We are also in  discussions with lead customers in the transportation sector (airports, train stations, metro areas) engaging in queue management trials. We believe OEM licensing and customization in partnership with Jabil can scale manufacturing operations to a global scale rapidly as needed.

SideCar Motion Planning and Control

This video demonstrates the last step of the autonomy pipeline - motion planning and control. In motion planning, the goal is to control the ego vehicle to reach the desired destination in a safe, comfortable, legal, and efficient manner.

In traditional approaches, motion planning is decomposed into the sub-problems of route behavior and trajectory planning. The goal of route planning is to find an optimum route from the current location of the self-driving vehicle to the destination location.  In the simplest case, the objective is to find the shortest path from A to B, however, different actors can lead to complex transitions as each driving situation needs to be explicitly handled and some scenarios can yield unexpected outcomes.

Using a driving corridor that specifies free space regions that the self-driving vehicle should drive within usually defined by how obstacles should be passed or which vehicles the self-driving vehicle should follow or stay ahead of can improve driving behavior. Regardless, since the velocity and direction profiles are optimized separately this can lead to suboptimal behavior.

Enter deep learning-based planning, which basically sidesteps the traditional algorithm-based navigation. Using deep learning the full trajectory representation where the path and the velocity can be simultaneously optimized using vision.  This approach not only leads to natural driving decisions but also leads to behaviors that can be achieved by the subsequent trajectory planning.

The below video is the visualization of the SideCar AI, the left side is what the AI sees from the front of the car and the right side is the top-down view of the road. The AI outputs the car's future position (in green) and is fully end-to-end so it can predict where to drive in all situations including traffic lights and stop signs using deep learning algorithms.



Epilog Hires new Chief Financial Officer

San Jose, CA – November 18, 2021  -   Epilog Imaging systems, Inc. a developer of super-resolution AI vision systems for self-driving cars and autonomous queue management, announced today that Mr. Kelly J. Stopher has joined the Company as its Chief Financial Officer.

With over 30 years experience in accounting and finance, Mr. Stopher’s career includes management and executive positions as Chief Financial Officer for Lee Read Jewelers, Inc. (Boise, ID),  Chief Financial Officer for Weldon Barber (Spokane, WA), Account Executive for Aston Group (Vancouver, BC),  Business Relationship Manager for Wells Fargo (Spokane, WA) ,  CFO/Director for Jayhawk Energy, Inc. (Coeur d’Alene, ID) and CFO for Zenlabs Holdings, Inc. (Vancouver, BC). 

Mr. Stopher is expected to work for Epilog on a part-time basis. Mr. Stopher presently also occupies the position of Chief Financial Officer, Secretary & Treasurer of Star Gold Corp., and President of National Silver and Lead Mining.   Mr. Stopher is Managing Partner at Palouse Advisory Partners LLC, a firm specializing in accounting and financial consulting for pre-IPO and publicly traded companies. 

Mr. Stopher received an undergraduate degree from Washington State University and began his career with Langlow Tolles, PS (Tacoma, WA) where he passed all sections of the Certified Public Accountant examination.

Here is a demonstration of SideCar's Driver Monitoring System (DMS). SideCar DMS technology is used to make sure the driver is paying attention to the road ahead at all times, in particular while SideCar is activated. SideCar driver monitoring AI is end-to-end, meaning the AI directly measures the driver distraction level, shown as a percentage confidence level.   Unlike the typical “keep-hands-on-the-wheel” approach commonly used by most manufacturers, the advanced SideCAR DMS is tamper-proof, helping deliver our top priority of occupant safety. Additionally, to ensure occupant privacy, videos captured in-cabin never leave SideCar unless the user has explicitly opted into data sharing to help improve SideCar.

SideCar Simulation Testing

Self-driving simulation provides a valuable tool for extending Sidecar test cases rapidly. 

The simulation tools we currently use incorporate a physics engine with detailed models of each vehicle’s subsystems. 

The simulation can be easily customized to different makes and models. 

The models enable simulating the unique kinematic properties of each vehicle. 

Different types of roads and traffic conditions can be simulated much faster and more systematically within a modeling environment, improving test coverage. 

For example, testing in bad weather conditions and fog is best first tested within a simulation environment. 

Because SideCar AI treats actual and simulated environments similarly, simulations can be reliably extended to reality in most cases. 

Highly detailed simulations, blur the line between models and reality, helping improve Sidecar by increasing the number and complexity of test cases more rapidly.

Aperis was established to differentiate the branding/messaging for Epilog’s queue management products, distinguishing it from the self-driving technology i.e. SideCar.  The name “Aperis” originates from the latin root “Aperio” which literally means “Uncover” or “Reveal”.  Aperis products use Epilog’s highly advanced Artificial Intelligence and multispectral stereo imaging capabilities to gain new insights into the world around us. The initial products being offered under the Aperis name are “Wellcome™” and “Closeview™”.   Wellcome is a vision-based health monitoring device designed for hypodermic AI metrics on humans from up to 10’ away.  Closeview is an 8K+ vision system designed to monitor indoor or outdoor spaces, extracting (revealing) details up to 500’ away along with people and vehicular motion flow analytics and perimeter protection. Epilog granted the SideCar trademark by USPTO

We are pleased to report that on August 3, 2021 the trademark SIDECAR has been allowed by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO.) The allowance is an International Class 9 authorization for a “Day and night vision system primarily comprising motion sensors and a camera for assisting drivers of vehicles.”  Epilog’s self-driving product was previously called “Sherpa” and the name change to Sidecar was motivated because of potential trademark conflicts.

A trademarked name helps protect a company’s products and services against infringement, and counterfeiting.  The Sidecar trademark provides protection for both Epilog and consumers alike and is an integral part of delivering quality products and services.


Wellcome testing at a medical office

Wellcome is a non-contact health assessment device designed to help with screening potentially infected individuals from distances up to 10 feet away. Wellcome estimates health condition through accurate measurements of a person’s body temperature, blood oxygen level, heart rate as well as purely AI-based metrics including height, weight, age, and gender.


Wellcome is currently being offered for testing in medical offices under an evaluation program. The initial units will help fine-tune system performance and reliability as well as demonstrate each use case. A video captured at each demo location will be available for promotional and personnel training purposes.


Wellcome shares much of its core technology with other Epilog AI vision products and is expected to be available for pre-orders on the Aperis website in 3Q21.

Aperis CloseView Sneak Preview

Keeping track of people and vehicles flowing in and out of facilities is a difficult and tedious task for humans, both in private and public settings. Examples include looking after frequently visited, ignored or restricted zones, idle vehicles and/or persons, perimeter breaches, safety and/or liability concerns. AI-generated real-time insights can provide actionable intelligence for facility managers, reducing response times and the chance for errors.

Leveraging the Epilog patented AI vision technology platform, CloseView is a new concept currently being developed under Aperis branding to address the huge challenge of AI coverage of large spaces. CloseView is designed to significantly reduce system complexity/cost, simplify installation, reduce scene illumination requirements and eliminate the reliability issues associated with “robotic” systems. Parking lots are the primary target market for CloseView as illustrated in the attached visualization. The US has as many as two billion* parking spots, an estimated 20% of accidents (50,000†) and 500,000+ violent crimes‡ that occur in parking lots each year.  Many government facilities and/or complexes can receive additional benefits from CloseView through pending infrastructure upgrades.

Aperis was established to differentiate the branding/messaging for our queue management products, distinguishing it from the self-driving technology (e.g. SideCar). Aperis will have its own dedicated website, trademarks, salesforce, distribution channels, and patent portfolio. The first product being offered under the Aperis brand is a remote health diagnostic device using the trademark “WellCome™” (formerly Tempo). The second product being developed under the Aperis brand uses the trademark “CloseView™”. The primary application for CloseView is AI analysis of the movement of people and vehicles in very large outdoor or indoor environments, e.g. warehouses, parking lots, etc. 


The best news is Epilog investors effectively now own two companies, Epilog and Aperis, each with a separate potential exit opportunity.  The logos presented below are concepts and are still being finalized.


Epilog 8K Vision System

The majority of driver assistance systems available on the road today use a collection of low-quality cell-phone type cameras to form their forward vision system. For example, our understanding is the Autopilot system "tiles" eight cameras, five looking forward and three looking rearwards. In comparison, Epilog Sidecar uses one 8K (25MP) vision system which we estimate to be 10x the image quality of the five Autopilot forward-looking cameras combined. By avoiding duplication and ambiguity inherent in tiled systems, we estimate SideCar can detect objects on the road with about 10x more precision and 3x farther away. Even better, to enjoy the benefits of Epilog technology you don’t need to buy a new car, just add a SideCar!



Epilog raises $1M in 2 months!

Epilog just surpassed the $1M fundraising mark in it’s Reg A+ offering. We have 1000+ new investors in just two months,  $2M+ raised in total and 3500+ shareholders. How we spend our Sundays at Epilog

Here is a time lapse demonstration of Epilog SideCar driving on the coast of Northern California for about 20 minutes. We plan to make SideCar available for beta testing in Q3, starting with investors who have compatible cars. We’re also training the system on recognition of stop signs and traffic lights, lane changes, and navigation. Stay tuned!

Unveiling Tempo

About a year ago we began developing a vision-based fever detection system in response to the pandemic. After careful competitor analysis, we are excited to present Tempo with two pending patents. Tempo is a standalone solution that can evaluate a person’s health from up to 15 feet away, by accurate assessments of body temperature, blood oxygen level, heart rate, height, weight, gender, and age. Combined with a contactless electronic survey, the system can help increase safety levels through screening of potentially infected persons before entering a business, school, or any other public place. Tempo is in production now, priced around $1,500, and expected to be available for sale in 2Q21.

Our understanding is Autopilot uses eight cameras for their vision system, five forward facing (most important) and three rear facing.
